Remembering Cath .......

In an attempt to encourage myself to prepare (and remember!) a packed meal to take to work with me, I treated myself to this little CK beauty...

'Candy Flowers' is one of my faves, its the perfect size for my lunch and a book and think (by Cath standards!) its a bit of a bargain!
As extra incentive I picked up these sandwich boxes while I was there!

They make me smile :)
Is there anything you do to encourage yourself do do something you would otherwise forget about?

Presents From America......

Look at these pretties Victoria brought me home from New York!
A Marc Jacobs mirror compact and a lipstick pen :)

I love them!
They also made me laugh!
Why?
Well there's a bit of a story about this mirror compact:

Marc Jacobs brought these out about 5 years ago, they were cool, affordable and like gold dust!
This of course meant that I was OBSESSED with getting one!
I finally ended up paying double plus postage to get one sent from the states (I HAD to have one you understand?)
I was proud when I got it and popped it in my bag, 3 days later the lettering wore off and I owned an overpriced plastic mirror!!!
We found it amusing and I was only a little bit heartbroken :)

You should have seen her grin when she gave it to me (we both have evil humour!)!!!! Cheeky!!

Thanks V! Presents and a laugh, couldn't ask for more!

Award Avalanche!

There has certainly been an abundance of lovely awards in Blogland of late!
I have been lucky enough to be tagged in four so thought rather than bore you with post after post of 'interesting things' about me I thought I could kill 2 birds with 1 stone so to speak!

The gorgeous Rose at Roses R Red has bestowed upon me the Circle Of Friends award.....

The fabulous and funny Sue at Dollytub Cottage awarded me with the Beautiful Blogger award....

The ever amusing Girl at Living With A Boy thought I deserved the Ms Brightside award.....

And last but not least the beautiful Pea Green Kitty of Memoirs of a Vintage Magpie
has tagged me in the Kreative Blogger award!

WOW! Thank You ladies!

As you can see if I followed the rules for all 4 this would be a most long and tedious post!
I have done awards like this in the past and I'm pretty sure nothing has changed! You can see some of these posts here, here and here!

I have terrible trouble passing these awards on! plus I'm a rebel and rules are made to be broken right?
I'm a share and share alike girl so anyone visiting me is welcome to take any or all of these gorgeous awards! Place them on your award shelf and know that I treasure each and every one of you!

Happy Birthday Sam!

Today I am off out with James' family to celebrate his Sister, Samantha's, 21st birthday.
Tonight we will all be staying in a hotel and going for a nice birthday meal.
We have gone all out to make it a special one for her with a very special present all the way from Vegas!

As well as this Armani watch (I want to keep it!!!) we have got some perfume and make up bits for her to open. I'm really excited and I hope she likes it!
As well as this James has booked for the three of us to have a private skiing lesson at the Snow dome near Hemel Hemstead so am expecting to spend a lot of Sunday on my behind!
Of course I couldn't let the occasion pass without making a cake!

Happy 21st Sam!

A Busy Weekend.......

With the change in weather I have been thinking about making a few changes at home, I'm generally very happy with my house and how it looks but I couldn't help feeling that a few finishing touches and tweaks were long overdue. I'm sure we all learn to live with things that bug us or simply never get done for so long we don't notice anymore!
My first project will be the kitchen, I had been thinking about it for a while and suddenly it all dropped into place and I had my vision!
So on Saturday James took me shopping to get this little lot!

Can't wait to get it done and show you some before and after photos!

Not wanting to waste the gorgeous weather on Sunday we took a little trip to Windsor (only 25 minutes from James' house!).
We took a lovely stroll to see the Castle. I hadn't been there since I was little so it was quite exciting!

After exploring the high street we took a walk along the river to feed the swans and ducks :)

So pretty and just down the road!

(Sorry to those of you with google reader who have read this already! Published by mistake! Don't you just hate it when that happens!!!!)

Just Like Airwolf!

You will be happy to know that Vegas wasn't all 'Yard Dogs', shopping and Starbucks!

Que another long post (for which I apologise!)

While we were there we took a trip of a lifetime to visit the Grand Canyon by helicopter. I was a little apprehensive, as I'm not a thrill seeker, but I was so glad I agreed to do it!

We used Maverick Helicopters and I have to say they were fabulous. A few initial squeals of terror were soon replaced with oohs and aahs as we were treated to breathtaking views of stunning landscapes, Lake Mead and the Colorado River

We even spied the Hoover Dam! (we also had a trip there later in the week!)

After about 40 minutes we flew over what looked like a rocky hill and the ground fell away, we were there, the west rim of the grand canyon!

We flew for about 12 miles getting lower and lower into the canyon before landing as low as possible on the canyon floor, where we had little champagne reception

After a little look round and plenty of photo opportunities we went to refuel and then headed back to the strip.

Unfortunately I was a little distracted as I was feeling a little bit green, luckily I didn't get ill and am very grateful that it only started a short while from landing!

Even with the queasiness I'm so glad we went, it was certainly an experience I wouldn't have missed, and thanks to the DVD James bough of our trip we can watch it again, laughing at our comments and my squeals!

What's In The Bag?

The eagle eyed TCake spotted a Tiffany bag in my Vegas photos and asked me if I was going to share what I had bought!

Of course I am!!

Remember I had been given $300 from my family for my birthday?
I wanted to use it to buy something special and had been admiring the Tiffany Keys for ages, so I got (or rather my family got me!) this:

I love it!!
I still had change so I spent it on these:

As you can see, I was very pleased!

Once Apon A Time........

There was a lovely Princess called Vanessa, who spent her time dying her hair, riding around on a cool red Vespa, and blogging! She lived in the beautiful kingdom of Hapi-Ness, a colourful oasis full of kindness and flowers.

One day Vanessa decided that she would host her very first swap with a fairytale theme, and everyone is invited to the ball!

All you Cinderellas (lets face it, who doesn't feel like her sometimes!) Sleeping Beauties, Snow Whites and Alices click here to RSVP!
(frog kissing and finger pricking optional!)

As if by magic we will meet new bloggers, send and receive lovely gifts and live happily ever after!

Fabulous Las Vegas!

With all the excitement of late I have not had a chance to tell so all about our fabulous holiday to Las Vegas! We had the best time! I don't really know where to begin! Don't worry I'm not going to bore you to death, but there will be some photos to look at!We stayed in the Planet Hollywood, Check in took a while and we were tired from the flight but we soon felt better when they upgraded us to a huge room! The rooms are all movie themed with stills and props from the films, we had 'The Long Kiss Goodnight' room! Such a great movie!

Vegas is a crazy place and we spent a lot of time being silly!

Breakfast was Starbucks, I love it!

I think even James (a hardcore Costa fan) Was converted!

As well as our breakfast ritual we also got very fond of 'Fat Tuesdays' cocktails (think slush puppies for grown ups!) We drank a few 'Yard Dogs' (yards of cocktail!) Here is James enjoying his first one!

We quickly learned not to drink these at lunchtime when we fell asleep and lost a whole afternoon!

The hotels are fabulous! Every detail is thought about in the themed hotels, they feel like Disney World for grown ups!

Excalibur

The Venetian

Paris

Monte Carlo

To name but a few! If you ever go to Vegas or have ever been you will know what I mean when I say WEAR COMFORTABLE SHOES! (my feet were throbbing!)

My favourite is Ceasar's Palace though, I can't tell you how big this place is! And so gorgeous, we have already decided we will stay there if we visit again! (not got any decent photos though!) Not to mention that my favourite restaurant, the Cheescake Factory is there (we may have eaten there once or twice!)

That's enough for today! Sorry for the lengthy post, I promise the next post will be shorter!!!
