Grubs Up!

I know I posted about Sophie's food already but, as I spent the best part of Sunday cooking, I thought I'd share the fruits of my labour with you!

I already have a good stash of vegetable purees and had been giving the odd jar but haven't been impressed they just don't smell like actual food!
So I chopped, steamed, poached, whisked and blended my way through a mountain of ingredients and ta daa!!

Tomato sauce (courtesy of my Aunt)
Cheese sauce
Chicken with leeks, sweet potatoes and carrots
Braised beef and sweet potatoes
Beef casserole and fish in a cheese and vegetable sauce!!

Now I just have to get James to stop eating it!!!

Lots of Love

fantastic, you are one organised mama!

Plum Baby foods are nice though, and organic. Expensive, but it's nice to have a break. And the best tip I can ever give any mum is to use the Heinz ready made sauces. Cheese, bolognese, tomato and basill, and a new cottage pie one. They also do beef and chicken gravies. I used to spend ages making Annabel K's cheese sauce for macaroni cheese or just veg in cheese. sometimes it would turn out well, other times it would be like glue and I'd chuck it. The Heinz ones are great, you just reheat and pour over pasta, or use to make something like a potato topped chicken and veg pie. I still use them, my little girl loves pasta with cheese sauce and I'd rather use it than 'adult' versions, 'cos it has less junk and salt.

Seeing your pic took me right back. Lots of work, but a total joy seeing your baby eat stuff you've made from scratch.

I remember this stage oh so well, my hand blender became my new best friend! If you ever need to give a pouch when you are out then I can recommend the Ellas Kitchen pouches, they have no added 'stuff' just lovely healthy ingredients and they actually smell and taste of real food. Scarlett x

I used to do just the same for my boys when they were babies. I'd spend a few hours each weekend making enough meals to last them a week. When they got older it was just the baby sauces I made to help make things little baby pasta easier to eat.

There wasn't as much choice 13 years ago for baby jars but I do remember that little son liked the Baby Organix range - especially the Korma :)
